Subject: Theology/Counselling
Content: General
Notes: Philip Yancey, an American journalist and editor-at-large for
Christianity Today, wrote the book What's So Amazing About Grace?
in 1997. The book delves into the concept of grace in Christianity,
arguing that grace is something people deeply desire and is a fundamental
aspect of the gospel. Yancey also criticizes local churches for neglecting
grace and focusing more on eradicating immorality. What's So Amazing
About Grace? incorporates Bible narratives, personal anecdotes from
Yancey's life, historical events, and various other stories.
I found this book not quiet as easy to read as I may have first expected.
The subject Grace has perhaps, not been one of the easiest to consider
with the vast divergence of opinions. But I do feel Yancey approached
it with candour and a good sense of the Spirit.
Perhaps readers should sometimes look for books that will challenge
them rather then support already set ideals and beliefs. If you're
looking for just such a book, then this could be it.
