Listen now
for I am Paul who was Saul,
I serve the living and true Almighty God,
Transformed when met the living Jesus Christ,
On road to Damascus blinded by God's sword.
In knowledge
of the law I did excel.
There was no one who knew the rules just like me.
Nor were as zealous to judge the wicked.
So to Damascus walked I impatiently.
My heart was
burning with Gods righteous wrath.
I knew what I must do to defend the faith.
My fellow Pharisee have sent me thus.
With papers drawn up clear with power to judge.
I would route
out the vermin with my oath.
And there would be no safe haven for those curs.
Nothing would hold back my fierce anger then.
Nor placate the judgement that they each deserved.
But then there
was a perfect blinding light.
That threw me of my donkey to the hard ground.
And in the stillness of my feeble shock.
A voice with power spoke urgently to me.
Saul, why do
you persecute as you do?
So astonished I begged to know who he was.
And was shamed to hear the voice say Jesus.
The very name that I was passing judgement.
I was blinded
by the Gods' Holy light.
To be as blind as I was spiritually.
Beholden to others for health and care.
Till Ananias with grace restore my sight.
By the grace
of God I am what I am
And His grace shown to me hath not been made void.
I labour abundantly more than they.
Yet not I, but the grace of God beside me.
Lest I should boast of any act of mine.
